Writing a book is a big project. Writing, editing, researching, and then writing and editing again. You have to have passion for your subject and you have to have courage to face potential rejection. After all, not everyone is going to be passionate about what you have to say. So before I get into my project any deeper, I wanted to remind myself and YOU, that there are good reasons to write a book.
TOP 10 REASONS TO WRITE A BOOK
10.) You enjoy writing and you enjoy editing
Do you enjoy writing? Do you enjoy the creative part of coming up with an idea and watching it come to fruition? Do you love words and coming up with different ways to say the same thing? Editing is cleansing and allows us to think before we write
and think before we speak.
9.) To grow spiritually
Writing a book encourages us to dive into scriptures more, to read other books, to connect
with other authors and expand applications of spiritual insights
8.) You are passionate about what you're writing about
Once we start researching a topic, we realize that it can snowball into increased perspectives about the topic and a springboard for new ideas
7.) To leave a legacy
Life is short.
Fleeting moments are all we have, especially as we age. Writing a book allows
us to have something to give our children and future grandchildren
6.) To help build a ministry
For those building a ministry, books can be a catalyst for more opportunities for speaking, discipleship and podcasting. Since the ministry is God's, it's exciting to see how He will work all of this out
5.) To see goals realized
Going to a writers conference or getting that proposal out helps us realize goals. Yes, there are many late nights, hard work and digging deep to believe in yourself. It takes courage to put ourselves out there! Sometime in the future, we will realize all God did to get us where He wants us.He'll reveal things about Himself that we didn't even know could happen.
4.) To help others grow closer to God
2 Corinthians 2:3,4
states: To comfort others with the same
comfort He has given us. This is the
essence of discipleship – to pass on what God has revealed to us about Himself
3.) My story matters – and yours does too!
By taking the time
to write our story, it allow us opportunities to encourage others to open
up about their stories. It helps to see how much God has done for all of us!
2.) To get the message out God has on your heart
When God puts a message on your heart, you have to do something with it. Writing is just one way to express that. By going through the process, God has shown me that although what I'm writing about may not be brand new, sharing it from the perspective I'm coming from is.
1.) To glorify God
Our lives are about
glorifying God, so whatever we do, whatever we say, whatever we tackle, it is
for Him
